Do men need extra supplements for body?


Various kinds of supplements such as vitamin C, vitamin E and other minerals are sold. How important is the consumption of supplements for the body that is claimed to maintain stamina?

Some studies do show that vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and bioflavonoids can protect the body from degenerative diseases (diabetes, heart disease, cancer, arthritis, immune disorders to Alzheimer's disease) and disease due to developmental disorders (low birth weight, neurological disorders and development eye).

But according to experts vitamins and minerals contained in it will not provide any benefit if someone already has a balanced lifestyle and eat a healthy diet.

Since the first supplement was discovered in the early 20th century, nutritionists have revealed that one should not take supplements if they have a balanced diet.

In this case the diet contains processed carbohydrates, fresh fruits and vegetables, milk and dairy products, meat, fish and eggs, nuts, unsaturated single fats and oils. If a lot of eating this food may be someone does not need a supplement.

But there are some groups of people who can not consume food in a balanced manner that requires additional supplements, as quoted from Health24, Thursday (26/11/2009):

1. People with certain diets. People who only eat certain foods like just eating vegetables and fruits will certainly lack of iron, zinc and vitamin B12.

2. Have problems with diet. People with abnormal diets such as anorexia or bulimia certainly need additional nutrients in order to survive.

3. Certain food allergies. If the person is sensitive or allergic to a type of food then should avoid the food. Like people who are allergic to milk, will tend to lack of calcium and vitamin B to be balanced with supplements.

4. Take chronic illness medicine. People who suffer from a chronic illness and must regularly take the drug, will usually be disturbed intake of micronutrients.

5. Indigestion. People who are stunted digestion so that interfere with the absorption of food can experience a deficiency of a substance in the body. This can be helped by supplemental supplementation from the outside.

6. Groups with special nutritional needs. Children, pregnant and lactating mothers and parents usually have unbalanced dietary patterns, such as the result of wanting to lose weight or something else.
