Foods with high fiber can care your heart

The heart is an important organ and should not be neglected health. Well, to have a healthy heart and prevent it getting sick worse (if you already have heart problems), nutritionists recommend you to increase fiber consumption.

A study published in the British Medical Journal explains that those with heart disease have a more significant developmental cure if their fiber needs are met.

The study also wrote that every 10 grams of fiber consumed a day would decrease the risk of heart disease by about 15 percent. A diet sufficient fiber is claimed to help keep blood pressure and cholesterol levels remain normal.

Fruits such as bananas and apples, vegetables such as carrots, as well as potatoes, whole wheat bread, and cereals are some good examples of fiber sources. A baked potato and bean contains about 10 grams of fiber, while two pieces of whole wheat bread contains about 4 grams.

In contrast, low-fiber diets are mentioned to be associated with several conditions such as constipation and bowel problems. In addition, some scientists in the US also mentioned the pattern of low-fiber diet is also associated with implications for heart health.

"High-fiber foods are an important part of a healthy balanced diet, and this study shows that this diet method is very likely to have special benefits to those at risk for heart disease or even those who already have it," explains Victoria Taylor, a nutrition expert from the UK Heart Foundation, as quoted by the BBC, Thursday (20/11/2014).

According to Taylor, if calculated accurately most people do not have enough fiber intake in a day.
